Sitting thinking about discipline

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

(Hebrews 12:11)

I was reminded of this verse today as I sat in service.  Sometimes working on achieving goals flows easily, but many of the times there are parts of the journey towards goals that is VERY taxing and VERY difficult because it requires us to be disciplined.

As I sat in my morning service today I thought of this verse and remembered that the strain and struggle that goes along with exercising discipline is not abnormal and isn’t something I ought to be complaining about… the strain and struggle… the difficulty associated with discipline is actually a PART of the way it is SUPPOSED to feel 🙁

As I sat there thinking about this I began to smile, realizing that I have 2 choices… either I’m going to cave in and give up on my goals because it’s too uncomfortable to be disciplined OR I’m going to have to embrace the PAIN recognizing that in the end it will produce an outcome that leaves me feeling peace and right standing (righteousness) with God!!

Although I feel challenged in the midst of the work… thinking about what will come out in the end, I feel encouraged.
